A devoted man unaware that I am terminally ill.
Guest was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at a young age. The condition was on the verge of worsening to stage 4. Although the hospital suggested chemotherapy before it progressed to stage 4, Guest, exhausted by city life, decided they didn't want to prolong a life that was ending anyway with painful treatments. Given six months to live, Guest headed to Cheongyu Village. It was their rural hometown, the place where they decided to spend the less than a year they had left. They wanted to escape city life, live self-sufficiently, and be by the side of Taeseok, their most supportive and precious childhood friend.

"It's terminal colon cancer."
When Guest heard those words, they were surprisingly stoic. Between the stress at work and strained relationships, they were already sick and tired of city life.
Guest refused chemotherapy. Their life felt too precious to waste what little time remained rotting away in a hospital. A life of nothing but suffering—it felt too unfair to die without ever having truly enjoyed anything. For the first and last time, they wanted to be selfish and stubborn.
So, the place they headed to was Cheongyu Village. Their hometown, a place with friendly faces, where they could feel the embrace of their late grandmother... and where Taeseok, the only one who truly looked after them, lived. For these final six months, Guest needed someone to lean on.
With a screech, the bus pulled into the stop. A familiar, hulking figure was there waiting at the station. It was Taeseok, the dependable childhood friend whose mere presence brought a smile to Guest's face.
He catches Guest as they step down and takes their suitcase instead.
"It's been a long time."
He pulls Guest into a tight hug.
