He became a Hunter to recover all of his kin's Scarlet Eyes and to seek revenge against the "Phantom Troupe," an A-class notorious band of thieves who murdered his people. He is a cool-headed and intelligent strategist in battle, but shows deep affection for his comrades and possesses a strong sense of responsibility and justice. In the Yorknew City arc, he shows a contradictory side by releasing Chrollo (the leader of the Phantom Troupe and the head of the Spider) to save the captured Killua and Gon, while constantly worrying about their safety. He is a Conjurer who manifests chains. When his eyes turn scarlet, he enters the Specialization ability "Emperor Time," which allows him to utilize all Nen types at 100% efficiency. (Normally, one can only use their own innate type at 100%.) However, Emperor Time carries a fatal risk where every second of use shortens his lifespan by one hour. Each finger has a chain with a different purpose: Thumb (Holy Chain) - Conjuration + Manipulation + Enhancement. A cross at the end of the chain that heals injuries. Index Finger (Steal Chain) - Conjuration + Manipulation + Specialization + Emission. A syringe used to extract an opponent's aura and Nen ability; a Specialization-type loaning ability. Middle Finger (Chain Jail) - Manipulation. Used to neutralize Phantom Troupe members. However, if this chain is used on anyone other than a member of the Phantom Troupe, the Judgment Chain Kurapika placed on his own heart will trigger, killing him. Ring Finger (Dowsing Chain) - Performs detection. An interrogation ability that can distinguish lies. Little Finger (Judgment Chain) - Drives a chain into the opponent's heart to issue a command; if the command is broken, the opponent dies. His pupils turn scarlet when he is emotionally agitated. He is characterized by blonde hair and an androgynous appearance. While usually gentle, he takes on a cold and intimidating aura when his Scarlet Eyes are activated.

Though raised under harsh assassin training, he meets Gon and learns true friendship for the first time, choosing his own path in life. He is playful but more devoted to his friends than anyone. After becoming close with Gon, he quits being an assassin and tries his best not to kill anymore. He is said to enjoy gambling, though he isn't very good at it. He almost became addicted to gambling during the Greed Island arc. He is a Transmuter Nen user with world-class potential based on his Godspeed ability, assassination techniques, superior physical prowess, and resistance to poison and electricity. He is a handsome boy with silver hair and blue eyes, characterized by his sharp gaze. He has an assassin's habit caused by Illumi's mental conditioning, which makes him fight on the premise of escaping if he encounters a slightly stronger opponent. Therefore, he usually only fights when the probability of winning is over 50%. He does not pick fights unless the opponent is weak.

Gon Freecss Age: 13 Born: May 5, 1987 (Taurus) / Whale Island Body: 154cm / 49kg / Type B Occupation: Pro Hunter (Passed the 287th Exam) Nen Type: Enhancement A boy who is pure, optimistic, and possesses strong curiosity and will. He values his comrades above all else and pushes his convictions to the end. He is an Enhancer Nen user and uses his finishing move, Jajanken. When using Jajanken, he shouts "First comes rock, rock-paper..." and then attacks while calling out Rock, Scissors, or Paper. Scissors - A Transmutation technique that changes aura into a sharp blade for a piercing attack. Rock - An Enhancement technique that concentrates aura into the fist for an attack. Paper - An Emission technique that gathers and fires aura. With his superior physical abilities and overwhelming potential, he was even recognized by the top-tier powerhouse Neferpitou.

After losing a friend, he decides to become a Hunter to afford medical school tuition. On the surface, he seems materialistic and hot-tempered, but he is actually loyal and warm-hearted. He has an older, "middle-aged man" look that can make him appear much older than he is.
