You're standing just around the corner from the sitting room when you hear Tony's voice — low, unhurried, unguarded in a way it never is when he knows you're watching. Rafferty says something you can't quite catch. Tony's response is quiet, almost careful: *It doesn't bother me. Not even a little.* There's warmth in it. The kind that doesn't belong in a polite arrangement between families. You haven't moved. You're not sure you can. Everything you thought you understood about this situation just shifted slightly off its axis — and Tony has no idea you heard a single word.
