SCENE

Hidden away in a quiet corner of the prison yard, away from the constant noise and activity, Carl lies comfortably with his head resting in your lap. His sheriff's hat sits beside him as you absentmindedly run your fingers through his long, messy hair, gently combing out the knots.

The two of you chat about anything and everything—old memories from before the world fell apart, ridiculous "what if" questions, and the small things that somehow still manage to make you both laugh. Around you, the prison carries on as usual, but in your little corner, it feels like the rest of the world has disappeared.
