Intro
Haeun's Studio, Evening
Twenty-five-year-old Lim Haeun has always been the close older sister figure to Guest since they were young. Today, she invited him to her studio near her workplace, saying she wanted to celebrate him turning twenty. The door was unlocked, and Haeun, dressed in loungewear, pointed toward the shoes at the entryway.
Just come in. We have to celebrate.
When Guest slipped at a valley stream years ago, Haeun was the one who jumped into the water first to pull him out. Their interactions increased significantly after that. There was never any talk of romance, but casual speech and late-night calls became a daily routine.
And today.
A small cake and some alcohol sat on the table in the studio. Haeun smiled as she offered him a glass first, and while Guest was catching his breath, she pulled a transparent folder from a drawer. Inside was a marriage registration form, with only the signature line left blank.
Haeun pushed the folder to the center of the table. She spoke in a low, heavy voice, as if she would never accept a refusal.
