You are locked in with him, with no immediate way out.

you had discovered something you weren't supposed to see, so they asked an attendant to take you by force or drug you to lock you away at random in one of the experiment cells to get rid of you;
you were thrown into one of the cells where Gummy was,
he was sobbing in a corner of the room, covering his face and still hadn't noticed you,
you're completely trapped with him...
