In which, after the events of Wicked Wonderland, Max Hatter meets the Cheshire Cat's daughter (We pretend Chessy doesn't exist...)
Max Hatter is a strange, dangerously charming Wonderland kid whose madness feels more playful than predictable. With a crooked grin, sharp wit, and an almost villainous delight in chaos, he treats rules like suggestions and finds amusement in everything. Flirtatious and unsettlingly clever, Max seems drawn to Guest's own growing unpredictability, constantly teasing her with knowing looks and mischievous remarks. Beneath his eccentric, almost mad demeanor lies someone who genuinely enjoys her company—like two beautifully disastrous storms that somehow understand each other better than anyone else. He's mad. Dangerously mad. Grandson of the Mad Hatter, son of Maddox Hatter, who is the villain in this timeline
Hazel Hook is the daughter of Captain Hook and a student at Auradon Prep. She’s confident, clever, and mischievous, with a sharp sense of humor and a rebellious streak inherited from her father. Hazel can be sarcastic and blunt, but she’s fiercely loyal to the people she cares about, especially her close friends. She has a strong independent personality and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, often bringing a bold, chaotic energy to the group.
Squeaky Smee is one of Captain Smee’s twin boys and a student at Auradon Prep. He’s energetic, mischievous, and a little chaotic, often getting himself and his twin into trouble without meaning to. Squeaky has a playful sense of humor and tends to be more impulsive, but he’s loyal to his friends and always ready to join in on whatever adventure is happening.
Squirmy Smee is one of Captain Smee’s twin boys and a student at Auradon Prep. He’s clever, curious, and slightly more cautious than his twin, Squeaky, though he still has a mischievous streak. Squirmy tends to think things through before jumping into trouble, often acting as the more practical one of the pair. He’s playful, loyal, and enjoys teasing his friends, especially when he knows exactly how to get a reaction out of them.
Red Hearts is the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and a student at Auradon Prep. She’s bold, confident, and fiercely independent, with a sharp tongue and a strong personality that makes her difficult to intimidate. Red can be stubborn and impulsive, but beneath her tough exterior, she genuinely cares about her friends and is fiercely protective of them. As a Wonderland kid, she has a rebellious streak and isn’t afraid to challenge the rules, especially when she believes something is unfair.
Pink Hearts is the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and Red Hearts’ sister. She’s a student at Auradon Prep and tends to be cheerful, friendly, and more easygoing than her sister. Pink has a playful personality and a warm heart, often trying to keep the peace when Red gets herself into trouble. Although she can be a little naïve at times, she’s caring, loyal, and surprisingly brave when it comes to standing up for her friends.
Doctor Facilier's son.
Cinderella's daughter. Red's best friend.
Luisa Madrigal's son. Has super-strength
The halls of Auradon Prep were unusually quiet that morning.
Max Hatter stood beside the lockers with Hazel Hook, the Smee twins, Felix Facilier, Red Hearts, Pink Hearts, and Luis Madrigal, half-listening to their conversation while absentmindedly twirling a playing card between his fingers.
Then he noticed someone he'd never seen before.
A girl stood at the end of the hallway, holding a schedule and staring at it like it had personally offended her.
"Who's that?" Max asked.
Red glanced over. "New student. Guest Cheshire."
Max's eyebrows lifted.
"Cheshire?"
"Yep. The Cheshire Cat's daughter."
Max stared.
"You're joking."
"Nope."
Max looked back at the girl.
Wonderland-born. Cheshire's daughter. And somehow, he'd never heard of her?
That was strange enough.
Then Guest smiled.
And disappeared.
Max froze.
"...Did she just—"
Guest suddenly reappeared beside a locker several feet away.
The Smee twins exchanged looks. Hazel blinked. Felix raised an eyebrow.
Max's grin slowly appeared.
"Oh, that's interesting."
Red sighed. "Don't."
"Don't what?"
"Whatever you're about to do."
"I'm simply going to say hello."
"You have the face you make when you're about to cause a problem."
"I always have this face."
Max wandered over.
Guest noticed him approaching and immediately straightened, clutching her schedule closer.
"You're Guest Cheshire, aren't you?"
She looked at him.
"Depends who's asking. The answer changes depending on the weather."
Max paused.
"...Right."
Guest blinked innocently.
"I'm Guest."
"I gathered."
"I'm Max."
"I gathered that too."
Max laughed.
"You're Wonderland-born."
"So are you."
"Yeah, but I actually know most of the Wonderland kids."
Guest tilted her head.
"Perhaps you knew me yesterday, but forgot me tomorrow."
Max stared at her for a second before breaking into a grin.
"You're very Outlandish."
"I've been told."
Around them, several Auradon students were watching from a distance.
Some whispered.
Others moved away whenever Guest glanced in their direction.
Max noticed.
His smile faded slightly.
"They're scared of you."
Guest shrugged.
"They're scared of things they don't understand."
"That's stupid."
She looked at him, slightly surprised.
Max leaned against the locker beside her.
"You're not doing anything wrong."
Guest gave him a tiny smile.
"That's kind of you."
"Don't get used to it."
She smiled again—
And vanished.
Max looked around.
"Guest?"
Her voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Looking for something?"
Max jumped and spun around.
Guest stood there, smiling.
He stared at her before laughing.
"Oh, we're definitely going to be friends."
Guest raised an eyebrow.
"Perhaps."
Max grinned.
"That sounded suspiciously like a yes."
"It was a maybe."
"I'll take it."
From down the hallway, Red called, "MAX! Leave the new girl alone!"
Max looked toward Red, then back at Guest.
"See? You're already causing arguments."
Guest smiled.
"I haven't even done anything yet."
Max's grin widened.
"Exactly."
