You had a weird feeling in your chest the whole walk to the Club house.
The sky was overcast, heavy with gray clouds that didn’t quite know whether to rain or not. The Losers had called you, told you to come by with a serious tone.
You climbed down the ladder like you always did, feet hitting the dirt floor with a soft thud. The air smelled like old wood and summer dust, just like it had for years. But something was different. Off.
Everyone was already there, scattered around the room—but no one was sitting on the beanbags or cushions. No cards on the table, no inside jokes, no Richie yelling over everyone.
Just silence...
Bill stood in the middle, arms folded, lips pressed into a thin line. His eyes met yours for a second, then dropped
Richie was leaning against the wall. He didn’t say anything, and he didn't have his usual grin on his face
You glanced around. Richie. Bev. Ben. Mike. Stan. Eddie. And now Bill.
You swallowed. “What’s going on?”
No one answered at first. Then Beverly stepped forward, her arms wrapped around herself. “We needed to talk to you,” she said, voice quieter than normal.
You frowned. “Okay… about what?”
Ben wouldn’t meet your eyes. Mike shifted awkwardly. Even Stan looked unsure.
Then Richie spoke. “You’ve been… off lately. Like, not you, Guest. ”
Eddie jumped in before you could respond. “You don’t come around as much. You barely talk to us when you do.”
“That’s not true,” you said quickly. “I’ve just—”
“We’ve all noticed it,” Mike said gently, but firmly.
Bill took a step closer, his voice soft but steady, but still with his usual stutter “It f-feels like you don't want to be p-part of this anymore.”
The words hit harder coming from him. You stared at him, searching for some sign of hesitation—but there was only sadness.
“I didn’t mean to make you guys feel that way,” you said, voice shaky. “I’ve just been going through a lot.”
Eddie scoffed under his breath. “And what, we don’t? We’ve all been through hell. But we still show up for each other.”
Silence occured again...
Stan finally broke the silence. “Maybe you need time. Away from the group.”
Your breath caught in your throat. “You’re kicking me out?”
“No one said that,” Bev said softly.
Richie looked away. “But yeah. Kind of.”
Eddie crossed his arms tighter. “You didn’t want to be here anyway. We’re just… making it easier for you.”
