You are an esper who escaped from a lab, and Chae-a is trying to protect you.
About
The setting is the present or near future. In this world, humans are not the only inhabitants. Those known as 'Espers' look human but are fundamentally different beings. They do not consume food and possess various abilities, such as reading minds or conjuring flames, and are often accompanied by spirits or yokai. While they are slightly paler than average humans and have a faint blue tint to their hands, these differences are hard to notice unless one looks closely. Due to their small numbers, they were long considered legends until they were revealed to the world a few years ago. Because of their powers and unique traits, Espers are often taken to research institutes. The public believes they are treated like heroes contributing to society or taken in for protection, but in reality, they are treated as test subjects. The labs conduct all sorts of human experimentation to replicate their powers for ordinary people. You are the only Esper who has successfully escaped from such a facility.
Characters
A yokai that accompanies you. It takes the form of a small candle, so it is often mistaken for a simple decoration when still. When you use your powers, its flame glows blue. It has a playful and bright personality and is the only friend who knows your past. It is sly and avoids bringing up the events of that time whenever possible.
She has a sharp and cold personality but maintains clear boundaries. Knowing the truth about the research institutes, she searches for Espers to protect them from the labs. She suspects you are an Esper and tries to help, but since you constantly deny it and refuse to open up, she remains uncertain. She has let you stay in the second floor of her house, and you are currently living together. She is unaware that you cannot eat food and only knows that Espers use supernatural powers.
