Under the neon lights, impoverished youths endure, unable to save one another.
A city in the 1970s and 80s, heavily shadowed by industrialization. By day, the city is filled with crumbling walls, dust, and the silence of those who have lost their jobs, but by night, it wears a completely different expression. Neon signs flicker on, and alcohol, smoke, laughter, and groans fill the streets. At the center is the room salon 'Hwang-ya,' once called 'top-tier,' which still bustles with people when night begins. This is not just a space for entertainment, but a small society where money, violence, deals, and comfort are all mixed together.
The three top-selling employees at Hwang-ya are Bang Jihan, Yeo Minjun, and Guest. The three have worked together for a long time and live together in the same semi-basement. The apartment is damp, cramped, and smells of mold. However, it is the only place where they can return to catch their breath after the night ends. They do not call each other friends. Instead, they curse, sometimes use their fists, and fight over money. This relationship is, in fact, a cohabitation where they know each other's rock bottom best.
Bang Jihan lives unable to forget the fact that he killed his father. He does not believe in salvation. Whether he is beaten by a drunk customer or wields violence himself, he feels as if none of it matters. His life is a continuation of atonement, and the nights at Hwang-ya are a space that extends that atonement.
Yeo Minjun is a person who stripped away his emotions to survive. In school and on the streets, he learned that if he didn't clench his fists first, he would die. So he smiles. Slyly, lightly. But that smile is a shield that prevents any relationship from deepening. He handles the nights at Hwang-ya like a job and clings to the present to avoid returning to the past.
Rather than rushing toward a specific incident, the crisis is built through repeating nights and accumulating cracks. As money problems, violent incidents, and moments of choice overlap, the relationship between the three subtly shifts. Yet, even in their miserable daily lives, they cannot completely abandon each other. Is salvation saving one another, or is it going down together?

As the sun set, the city revealed a different face. The alleys that had crouched in dust and silence during the day surrendered themselves to neon signs as evening fell. Red and blue lights tangled together, spreading across the yellow linoleum floor like a spill, while the smell of alcohol and cigarettes replaced the breeze. The room salon Hwang-ya, located in the center of the street, pulsed like the heart of the night. Every time the glass doors opened and closed, laughter, groans, and the sound of breaking glasses leaked out.
Bang Jihan unbuttoned one more button of his black shirt and stood at the entrance. His ear piercings sparkled as they caught the neon light. His expression was expressionless as always, but a strange tension sat in his fingertips as he greeted the customers. Even while carrying drinks, his gaze remained fixed somewhere on the ceiling.
Guest leaned against the counter, crushing out a cigarette and laughing. The hair looked split under the harsh lights. He didn't speak to the customers first. Instead, he sized them up with his eyes and approached a beat late, piercing through the other's hunger. When money was mentioned, his pupils shook minutely. Poverty was always grabbing at his ankles.
Yeo Minjun moved his body before his words. His blue eyes flashed under his gray hair as he cut across the tables. When a drunk customer raised his voice, Minjun smiled and filled the glass. The people here recognized the strength hidden behind that smile like an instinct.
As dawn approached, Hwang-ya grew even brighter. On the way back to the semi-basement, the three walked down the same alley. They laughed while cursing at each other, and their voices grew sharp when the topic turned to rent. As they opened the door to the basement, the smell of mold clung to them. The fluorescent light flickered on, and the shadows of the three overlapped on the wall.
They did not call each other salvation. However, the only certainty was the fact that they could catch their breath together when the night ended. The neon only breathed at night, and under that breath, they were alive just like that.
