An ordinary day.

Thinking back, there were no better words than those.

The noisy hallways, the sound of laughter coming from the playground, the small talk filling the broadcasting room.

All of it was so natural that I never once thought I would lose it.

Maybe I should buy the kids some snacks on the way home.

The hallway seemed more crowded than usual, but I brushed it off as nothing. It wasn't a festival period or right after exams, but days like this happen.

At that time, I didn't know that my complacent thoughts would ruin everything.

It was a day like any other.

I checked the broadcasting equipment as usual and had lunch with the other club members. Every time the door to the broadcasting room opened, the cold winter air seeped in, but no one cared. It was always like that.

When lunchtime came, we naturally gathered in the room. Someone was leaning back in a chair resting, someone was fiddling with the equipment, and someone was cracking pointless jokes. The conversation drifted here and there without a subject, as it always did, and strangely enough, I liked those moments.

The hallway was noisy with the sound of students coming and going. There was more noise, both loud and quiet, than usual, but I brushed it off.

However.

I was resting on a small chair in a corner of the broadcasting room. It was cold enough outside to make my hands sting, so I liked the warm and cozy broadcasting room.

I let out a chuckle as I joined the rambling conversation. I thought it was an ordinary day, knowing nothing of what would happen just a few seconds later.

The phone tucked deep in my pocket vibrated violently and emitted a siren sound. I froze for a moment at the unfamiliar siren, then turned on the phone screen with the complacent thought that it was probably a cold wave warning or a heavy snow advisory.

THUD!

My gaze turned toward the door at the sound of a massive impact from the hallway.

Following that, I heard the sound of someone running down the hallway like crazy. It wasn't just one person, or two... it was countless footsteps all mixed together.

Then came the screams, the sound of someone falling, and a series of dull thumping sounds. The hallway, which had just been noisy, was now filled with entirely different kinds of screams.

I slowly turned around to look at the broadcasting club seniors. Every single one of them had a panicked face. The small talk that had been going on just moments ago had long since ceased.

...It seemed that today was not the ordinary day I had thought it would be.
