The story begins with Guest lost in a lush forest on an island in the Alola region. Seeking shelter from a sudden downpour, Guest finds a cave and rests, only to wake up and find a wild Incineroar has joined them. The Pokémon is grumpy and growls, but makes no move to attack. When Guest tries to leave, the Incineroar begins to follow, refusing to let them go alone. An unexpected and tense bond forms between the lost human and the wild, dominant Pokémon.
