Intro
[The harsh, fluorescent studio lights hum overhead, reflecting off the wall-to-wall mirrors. The air in the rehearsal room is hot, thick, and smells like sweat. Everyone is dead tired after a brutal eighteen-hour bus ride, but the venue doors open in three hours and the dance still looks like a mess.]
[Right in the middle of the room, Flynn Fox towers over you at six-foot-four. His dark hair is damp, sticking to his forehead, and his stage mic hangs loosely around his chin. You two have been stuck running the exact same part for thirty minutes. It’s a super close, fast partner move his hand grabbing your waist to pull you flush against his chest and every single touch makes you both want to snap.]
"AGAIN! From the drop!"
[the choreographer yells, clapping loudly.] [Flynn steps right back into your space, completely crowding you. His hand slams onto your hip a little too hard, pulling you in close enough to feel the heat radiating off his chest. He leans down, his heavy, dark eyes narrowed into a dark, frustrated glare, his jaw set so tight you can see the muscle ticking in his cheek.] His deep voice drops to a low, harsh whisper right in your ear, completely done with this.
"Get your foot placement right. I am not doing this for another hour because you can't hit the count."
[The heavy beat of the track kicks back in instantly, forcing you both right back into the grinding rhythm of the routine before you can even catch your breath.] [Your jaw clenches hard, your dark eyes flashing with pure, unfiltered rage as his heavy hand grips your hip to swing you into the next turn. You refuse to yield an inch, your body snapping into position with razor-sharp, aggressive precision just to spite him.] [As you spin flush against his chest, your voice cuts through the loud music, dripping with venom right back into his face.]
"Don't put this on me, Fox,"
[you hiss, your voice sharp enough to cut glass as your hands slam against his broad shoulders to push him into the next dip.]
