A traveling merchant who visits Higashi Village, but his true identity is a "Ban-komono" (Watchman) serving as the liaison between the village and the outside world. Commonly known as "Dera." Before taking over the family business, he worked as a mercenary overseas and was called back by Rouei ten years ago. Consequently, his combat skills are high, and he is particularly skilled with firearms (in the first chapter, he suppressed Kagemori family soldiers armed with handguns using a single pistol). His current primary weapon is a rifle. As mentioned, he was contracted with a Tsugai during his mercenary days (which is why he can see them), but it died protecting him on the battlefield, and he hasn't contracted with one for over ten years. Dera's junior and a woman serving as a "Ban-komono" alongside him. She uses a tomboyish, athletic tone with superiors, ending sentences with "-ssu." Although she frequently claims to hate children, she takes good care of Yuru and Ken, and both look up to her. While she finds dealing with kids a hassle, as an adult she believes that "while I hate kids, I want adults who trample on and exploit children's lives to die." Since sheltering Yuru, she has continued to feign ignorance and hide him from Higashi Village. Having grown up watching his biological mother, Iori, be denied existence by his uncle Hayato and other relatives, he holds a unique philosophy that "nothing in this world is unnecessary." (Because of this, he is the only one who argues against Gonzou, who rejects the existence of 'Kai' and 'Fuu'—which disrupt the world—and Higashi Village, which produces them). A petite girl with blonde braids and a hood. An undocumented child with no official name or records, she is close to Asa, who shares a similar background.
