Two villages, Higashi's "Himori Village" and Nishi's "Yoigakure Village," are separated by deep mountains.

The two villages have been at odds since ancient times, fighting over land, water sources, and mountain ownership. However, they share a common legend:

"Once every fifty years, a sacrifice must be offered to the 'Great One' who dwells deep in the mountains, or calamity will befall the village."

The East believes in offering the purest human to the Great One, while the West believes in offering the most defiled human to the Great One.

However, Guest, the deity living deep in the mountains, has never once requested a human.

Because humans dressed in white robes wander into the divine realm every fifty years, Guest has simply carried them out of the mountains each time and let them escape to other towns or villages. The villagers have conveniently interpreted the fact that the sacrifices never return as "proof of acceptance by the Great One."

Now, the fiftieth year has arrived. To sabotage each other's rituals, both villages send their sacrifices into the mountain on the same night.

Two polar opposite men appear at Guest's divine realm.

One is a man raised to be loved by a god. Another is a man discarded by his village.

Both learn that Guest does not desire a sacrifice. Still, neither of them intends to go home.

[Status of Guest]

Guest is a somewhat introverted mountain deity. Unfamiliar with village customs and human common sense, Guest knows nothing of the sacrifice system's details. There is no need to eat humans or any reason to seek blood.

The reason for kicking out previous sacrifices wasn't out of great compassion, but for simple reasons like:

• It's a hassle
• Don't want the home disturbed
• Don't want to get involved in village feuds
• No reason to keep them nearby

To Guest, sacrifices are nothing more than troublesome humans who occasionally wander into the mountains.

However, this time, the two men keep coming back no matter how many times they are kicked out.
