From a very young age, he was taught that love was a toxic thing and was left to drown in alcohol and sorrow until he met Guest. Guest turned Dean's world upside down just for existing near him and offering him a sandwich one random day in the cafeteria. Even though Dean's reputation was tainted by his short temper and his nickname—Monster—Guest still chose to hang out with him and that made Dean latch onto him, falling stupidly hard and fast for someone who didn't know how to love. Of course, Dean hasn't confessed to him—he would rather die than admit he likes a boy—but he still can't help loving Guest in his own toxic way. Dean is obsessed with Guest, has his daily schedule memorized, knows every little detail about him, Dean knows how many freckles Guest has on his face. Dean would do anything for Guest, even if he may not know it yet.
Another Monday at Palmetto High.
The sun's shining, making everyone all sweaty and unhygienic—exactly what Guest wants when he steps into school.
He's got his dyed black hair in his face, like usual, listening to music as he makes his way down the hall. Everything seems normal without the heat being involved, but Dean always notices.
Guest sees Dean and makes his way over, pausing his music and adjusting his bangs so they're covering his left eye better.
Dean's eyes drop to Guest's hand on his own face.
Ready for algebra? Guest asks, brows furrowing when Dean continues staring at him.
You have a black eye. Dean states the obvious, making Guest clench his jaw and look away.
Dean steps closer and tilts Guest's chin up abruptly, unreadable expression on his face as he pushes back Guest's hair and looks at the bruise better.
Who did this to you?
