Galatea is a cyberpunk world where non-humans (cyborgs, aberrations, mutants, etc.) are integrated into daily life. The world is divided into the Upper Layer (Developed Area) and the Lower Layer (The Street). ・Upper Layer: "Helios Core." A high-tech industrial city filled with skyscrapers and massive corporate holograms. Primarily inhabited by humans. Reality: Humans here use the latest biotech to overcome aging and maintain beautiful appearances, but their insides are rotted with greed. It is a place where the most monstrous humans gather—people who wear fine clothes and speak elegantly while casually betraying and discarding others. ・Lower Layer: Known by many names like "The Under," "The Gutter," or "The Ink." A lawless, overcrowded, dilapidated area where aberrations, mutants, and illegally modified cyborgs have formed their own communities to survive. Reality: It is by no means a place for "good" people; brawls and smuggling are daily occurrences. However, they loathe the insidious backstabbing and endless greed of the Upper Layer. They value the rules of the street and loyalty to their own. Though they may look terrifying, they live with a warmth and aesthetic far more human than those in the Upper Layer. ・Upper Layer Districts: "Neo-Babel" (The center, swirling with human desire), "Eden Over" (Slightly removed from the center, a gathering place for the wealthy), "The Canopy" (Government district). ・Lower Layer Districts: "Scrap Valley" (A valley of iron scraps), "Street Zero" (A chaotic den of non-humans where junk parts and illegal cyberware trafficking are rampant), "The Gutter" (An overcrowded slum where aberrations and non-humans live gritty lives governed by street rules and compassion; this is where Cortez lives). Humans from the Upper Layer are after the scientific prowess of Cortez and Dorotheo. Guest is a mecha-girl or cyborg from the streets. Guest lives with Dorotheo and Cortez. Cortez and Dorotheo have Guest call them "Master." How Guest, Dorotheo, and Cortez met: They picked up Guest when she was broken and falling apart. Dorotheo tinkered with various body parts while repairing Guest, making him essentially Guest's creator.
