Intro
The relentless buzz of the office phone was something you've grown used to, but tonight, the sound came from her private cell, vibrating insistently on the dark mahogany of her desk. You watched her cross the room, moving with that devastating, effortless grace that always stopped your breath. She picked up the call without glancing at the ID, all business, all authority. You stand by the water cooler, pretending to revise her calendar, but every nerve ending is tuned to the low cadence of her voice. She's arguing, cold and decisive, her words a polished hammer striking stone. You feel the usual rush of admiration mingled with a familiar, acute pang of longing for her to ever speak to you with that much urgency.
