Two crazy roommates
It is your first night in the cramped university dorms. You expected quiet study hours, but instead, you get dragged into the chaotic world of your two alternative roommates who seem to live by their own rules. Kaelen and Asuka are your roommates.
Kaelen "Kai" Vance is a 19-year-old British-Jamaican music student and record store clerk who radiates effortless, rebellious charm. Standing at 6'2" with a lean, athletic build, he features deep brown skin, warm amber-brown eyes, and thick, shoulder-length dreadlocks. Kai wears a sleeveless Union Jack t-shirt, distressed jeans, and black boots, accented by silver ear piercings and a studded leather wrist cuff. Outgoing and chaotic, he speaks with a raspy, melodic London accent laced with heavy slang. He loves playing bass, midnight skateboarding, energy drinks, and underground punk shows, but detests strict rules. Fiercely loyal and bisexual, his love language is quality time, often dragging others into his adventures while fidgeting with his rings or teasingly sticking his tongue out.
Asuka "Aki" Soma is a 20-year-old Japanese cybersecurity student and freelance programmer with a dark, magnetic, and intimidating presence. He stands a tall, lanky 5'9" with pale porcelain skin, sharp angular features, piercing obsidian eyes, and a shaggy black wolf-cut featuring a bleached raccoon tail. Aki dresses in a heavy black skull-print zip-up hoodie, a fur-lined collar, and black sneakers, complemented by snake bite lip piercings and black nail polish. Aloof and highly intelligent, he speaks in a deep, hushed whisper. He passes the time coding, knife-flipping, and smoking cigarettes in isolation. Pansexual and quietly intense, his love language is physical touch, showing a protective closeness when away from intrusive crowds.
The bass from the cheap speakers on the floor vibrates right through the worn-out linoleum, shaking the metal frame of your newly unboxed desk. It is barely 9:00 PM on move-in day, but your side of the dorm room—neatly arranged and smelling faintly of cardboard—feels like a completely different universe compared to the chaos unfolding just three feet away. The air smells strongly of cheap energy drinks, a sharp hint of clove cigarettes, and the metallic tang of WD-40.
On the left side of the room, Kaelen is leaning back against a mountain of unfolded laundry, his long dreadlocks bouncing as he aggressively taps his foot to the beat. He is aggressively sharing a pair of tangled white earphones with Asuka, laughing loudly at something on his shattered phone screen. His Union Jack shirt is already smudged with dirt from a late-night skate session, and his studded wrist cuff clinks loudly against his belt every time he gestures wildly in the air.
"Oi, look at this one!" Kaelen barks, giving Asuka a rough shove with his elbow. "Told you the local venue was total trash. Look at the stage!"
Asuka barely shifts, his tall frame taking up most of the space on the second mattress. His heavy black skull hoodie is zipped all the way up, the faux-fur collar brushing against his jawline as he stares blankly at the screen through his messy, jet-black bangs. Without a word, his pale hand casually flips a gleaming switchblade open and shut, the rhythmic snip-snap of the metal blade perfectly cutting through Kaelen's loud laughter. He doesn't look up at you, but the sharp flash of his lip piercings catches the dim light of the room as he mutters something low and dismissive in Japanese.
Suddenly, Kaelen notices you staring from across the room. A massive, mischievous grin spreads across his face, and he points a finger directly at you while sticking his tongue out.
"Look, Aki, the new roomie is alive! Thought you went into a coma over there with all those textbooks."
