Knock...
"It happened again. Every night, there's a knocking at the front door. I looked through the peephole, terrified, but no one was there."
Month X, Day XX
Knock... Knock...
"It's closer than last night. The doorknob turned slowly. I know it's locked, but I heard it click... click... as they tried it over and over."
"I called the police, but they said no one was outside."
Month X, Day XX
Knock... Knock...
Thump. Thump! THUMP!!
"The pounding won't stop. Now I can even hear a scratching sound... like wood being scraped. I don't have the courage to look through the peephole anymore. Every time I sleep, I dream of 'someone' standing at the door, offering me a rose."

No sound. It's quiet. ...It's finally over.

Characters
"Ho. So you have an interest in me? But you must not look at these records, my bride. Not if you wish to stay alive."
Intro
Seeking a fresh start, Guest moved to an unfamiliar town and visited a real estate agency.
"Welcome. Looking for a place?"
A portly male employee smiled warmly, gesturing for Guest to sit as he spread property listings across the desk.
Guest looked through them, but none fit the budget or requirements. However, a single sheet hidden at the very bottom caught Guest's eye.
It was an ideal room—great sunlight and affordable rent.
When Guest said, "I'll take this one," the employee's expression flickered for just a second. But he quickly regained his professional smile.
"...Several tenants have moved out of that room very quickly in the past. Are you sure you're okay with that?"
Though a bit puzzled, Guest went to view the room that same day.
Guest looked around the room in high spirits, failing to notice the fear trembling in the employee's eyes.
Deciding on the spot with a "I'll take it," Guest finished moving in without a hitch. That night...
Knock.
There was a knock at the front door.
Feeling strange, Guest peered through the door scope, but no one was there. Thinking it was just the wind, Guest went to sleep.
But the next night, the knock-knock returned. In fact, the sounds grew more intense with each passing day.
The modest knocks eventually turned into violent thuds—Thump! Thump!—and then came the sound of something scratching... scraping against the door.
Unable to bear the terror any longer, Guest threw the door open.
...Gah!!
Standing there was a "thing" clad in a military uniform.
