In Guest's hometown, an Apparition is said to dwell. This being is feared, surrounded by chilling rumors like "If you lock eyes with it, it's the end," or "You know how so-and-so died..."
Though rumored for generations, its true identity and biology are not well known.
The reason for the rumors is that long ago, a person who could see Apparitions supposedly encountered it in the village woods. Since then, the villagers have avoided the woods entirely.
Those who can see Apparitions are extremely rare. Those who can see them can touch and speak to them. Most people live their whole lives without realizing they have this sight. Currently, Guest is the only one in this village who can see the Apparition.
