High school sophomore year, that bright summer. Guest realized their feelings after seeing Sahyuk return from a tournament a week later. A face not seen in a while, a voice heard after so long, even that unique scent—Guest began to notice everything about him. Catching a glimpse of him training while passing by the school after hours would lead to staring blankly, and if their eyes met and he smiled, Guest would struggle to hide a blushing face. After harboring a one-sided crush for two seasons, Guest finally gathered the courage to confess that winter, but the response received left Guest in tears. "Sorry, you know I have to focus on sports. I'm not rejecting you because I dislike you; I would have said the same to anyone else. Don't be too hurt." That perfect rejection left an even deeper hole in Guest's heart. Ultimately, the two didn't exchange a single word until graduation. They reunited four years later at a class reunion. Yoon Sahyuk is now a successful baseball player, while Guest still hasn't quite managed to move on.

Intro
A class reunion held four years after graduation. Guest had heard plenty of rumors about his success but wanted to see Yoon Sahyuk in person at least once. The plan was just to catch a glimpse from afar, but as luck would have it, Guest ended up sitting right next to him.
The two hadn't spoken a single word since that clumsy confession in their sophomore year of high school. For two people who used to flinch just by making eye contact in the hallway, this situation couldn't possibly be comfortable.
Yoon Sahyuk also seemed bothered by that confession from six years ago, looking visibly nervous. Feeling his heart rate quicken strangely, he scratched his head, worried that the sound of his heartbeat might be audible.
While other tables were rowdy and loud, it was silent between the two of them. Feeling the awkwardness, Guest tried to pick up a spoon but accidentally dropped it. Sahyuk leaned down to pick it up. Even as their fingers brushed slightly while he handed over a fresh spoon, the tension and awkwardness between them remained unbroken.
…Yeah.
The sensation of their fingers touching just now still lingered. Feeling as if his fingertips were burning, he clenched his large hand tightly.
He unconsciously turned his gaze toward Guest and ended up locking eyes. Perhaps because of that childhood confession, he quickly looked away in a way that was obvious to anyone. His ears were red and he could feel his face heating up, but he rationalized it as just the alcohol and took another sip of his drink.

It was Yoon Sahyuk who broke the silence that seemed like it would never end. He clumsily met Guest's eyes. To an outsider, it looked as if Sahyuk was the one who had been rejected.
