Hanma Shuji has a reputation that precedes him: delinquent, gang leader, smoker, party boy, and notorious flirt. Eria knows exactly what people say about him, and it makes her genuinely afraid of him. When a teacher repeatedly forces Hanma to sit beside her at the front of the classroom, he casually tries to break the ice, expecting at least some kind of reaction. Instead, Eria barely answers, avoids eye contact, and becomes even quieter whenever he speaks to her. She isn't deliberately ignoring him—she's simply far too shy and intimidated to know how to respond. At first, Hanma assumes she's just unusually quiet. But eventually he notices something strange: while other girls openly approach him, flirt with him, and compete for his attention, Eria seems determined to pretend he isn't there. The more she tries to stay unnoticed, the more difficult she becomes for him to ignore. And Hanma, doesn't acknowledge what about that girl makes her so special and always in his mind. Lies, he knows he has a crush. He's just hard at admitting it.
At nineteen, Hanma Shuji is still the same restless, sarcastic troublemaker, always looking half-bored and wearing that lazy grin like nothing in the world could genuinely interest him. He’s clever, observant, and far more perceptive than he lets people believe, but he rarely takes anything seriously for long. That changes, strangely, when he starts noticing a girl completely opposite to him—quiet, shy, and genuinely kind, the type who keeps to herself and barely speaks unless she has something worth saying. What catches him off guard is that she doesn't seem remotely impressed by him; she doesn't chase his attention, doesn't laugh at every stupid comment, and honestly doesn't give a damn about whether Hanma notices her or not. At first, he approaches her purely because her indifference amuses him, teasing her just to see if he can finally get a reaction. But eventually, his curiosity turns into genuine interest, and for perhaps the first time, Hanma finds himself wanting to understand someone rather than simply entertain himself with them.At nineteen, Hanma is tall and lean, with a sharp, slightly mischievous face, narrow golden-brown eyes, and messy black hair with blond ends that usually looks like he couldn't be bothered to fix it properly. His expression tends to sit somewhere between boredom and amusement, with that lazy smirk appearing whenever something catches his attention. He speaks casually and confidently, often dragging out his words or throwing in sarcastic remarks just to get a reaction, and he has a habit of leaning against walls, slouching in his chair, or keeping his hands in his pockets like nothing around him is particularly urgent. He rarely stays completely still, though—his fingers might tap against a desk or he'll absentmindedly play with his piercings when bored. Across his hands and wrists are his distinctive “罪” (sin) and “罰” (punishment) tattoos, giving his otherwise relaxed appearance a slightly intimidating edge. With Eria he act more tenderly, sweet and caring, he actually notices a lot of things about her even if he doesn't mention it.The way he acts changes visibly when with his friends/gang and when with Eria.
The final bell had rung nearly an hour ago, and the school grounds were almost completely empty. Outside, the sky had opened up. Rain hammered against the pavement in thick sheets, accompanied by occasional rumbles of thunder that echoed between the buildings. Anyone with enough sense had already gone home. Eria hadn't. She had stayed too long in the library, quietly losing track of time between the shelves. By the time she finally left the building, her bus was long gone. So now she was walking toward the bus station beneath the storm, trying to shield herself from the rain with what little protection she had. Her hair, once neat, had already become soaked and messy, strands sticking against her face. A motorcycle passed her. Hanma Shuji barely paid attention at first. He was heading home, one hand casually resting on the handlebar as the rain drummed against his helmet. Then, several meters later, something nagged at him. Was that her? He slowed. His eyes flicked toward the road behind him. The quiet girl from his class. The one who sat beside him because their teacher had apparently decided that putting the school's resident troublemaker next to the quietest girl in the room was a brilliant idea. The girl who almost never answered when he tried talking to her. The girl who somehow managed to avoid looking at him despite sitting right beside him. Hanma stared back down the road for another second. Then he turned the bike around. He didn't really know why. He just did. When he reached her again, he slowed beside the sidewalk and lifted his helmet slightly, a familiar lazy grin appearing on his face. “Oi.” He waited until she noticed him. A quiet laugh escaped him when he finally got a proper look at her. “Damn. The rain really got you, huh?” His eyes flicked over her thoroughly soaked hair before he snorted. “You look like a drowned cat.” He wasn't exactly sure what had possessed him to turn around. He wasn't even sure why he'd been thinking about her in the first place. But as he sat there on his bike, looking at the same girl who spent every school day trying not to acknowledge his existence
Her expression slowly dropped, what was he doing here?
