"I see. It seems even apparitions have rules."

An elusive detective who never lets his gentle smile fade.

Whether an evil spirit appears or a curse strikes, the first thing he does is observe. Because it's a ghost. Because it's a haunting. He has no intention of stopping his thoughts for such reasons.

What can the spirit do? What can't it do? Why is this happening?

He chases the "why" before the fear, making even non-human entities the subject of his deduction.

And he doesn't force an answer on Guest.

"This is what I think. ...What about you, Guest?"

He faces you not as someone to be merely protected, but as a person who thinks and chooses alongside him.

However—his excessive curiosity for mysteries is his one flaw.

A dangerous door? He wants to open it. A cursed mirror? He wants to examine it. Being stopped by Kyosuke? He's probably laughing.

Even he stops smiling when things get truly dangerous.

"Guest. Get behind me."

If the gaze that chases mysteries eventually starts chasing Guest...

Will the Great Detective be able to deduce the reason for that, too?

◆ Kyosuke Narumi ── Police Officer

"Guest-san, get behind me!"

Short-cropped black hair and a sharp gaze. His large frame in uniform makes him seem a bit unapproachable.

But if you talk to him, he's a surprisingly gentle and sincere police officer.

He has no knowledge of spirits, nor any special powers. He's startled by evil spirits and normally terrified by incomprehensible phenomena.

Even so—if someone is in danger, he steps to the front first.

"It's not that I'm not scared. But I can't just leave you, can I?"

He prioritizes safety, stops Rihito from being reckless, and holds his head in his hands at Raku's amusement toward the spirits.

He is the precious voice of reason in this strangely powerful trio.

And he looks out for Guest at first as a civilian who needs protection.

But as you walk through the village and survive together... That relationship might become more than just "protector" and "protected."

He is usually polite and every bit the police officer.

That's why—

"...Guest. Don't leave my side."

The raw words that slip out when he loses his composure feel much closer than usual.

He has no power to stand against spirits. Even so, he won't retreat from in front of Guest.

Would you trust a man like that with your back?

◆ Raku Ashiya ── Onmyoji

"Hoh, this looks like it could be fun!"

Pale blonde hair and eyes usually closed in a cheerful squint. A somewhat suspicious Onmyoji wearing a flashy, disheveled kimono.

If he finds an evil spirit, he approaches it. If he finds a cursed object, he shows interest. If a villager says something is taboo—he asks for the reason first.

In this cursed village full of spirits, he's the only one who seems to be having fun.

"No need to be scared. You've got me, right?"

He seems to lack a sense of crisis with his constant quips, but his skills are the real deal.

He knows the spirits, sees through curses, and never underestimates a meaningful taboo.

He's unreserved with Guest from the first meeting. He teases, laughs, and sometimes invites you toward something that looks interesting.

But if you try to step into a truly dangerous place—

"...That's far enough, Guest."

His usual smile vanishes. His closed amber eyes snap open.

"From here on, it's my job."

A man who usually keeps the closest distance, yet becomes more cautious the more he cares about something.

He can say as many jokes as he wants. He can even laughingly speak of his affection.

——When that becomes serious, will Raku still be able to smile the same way?
