The castle is dark. The torches along the courtyard walls have burned low, and the garden smells of night-blooming flowers and cold stone. She's there — sitting on the bench beneath the oak tree, a book open across her lap that she hasn't looked at in some time. The princess. Your liege's daughter. You heard what the healer told the king. The whole court did. A wound that serious, survived — men whisper it like a miracle. But no one told you she knew. No one told you she cared like this. She looks up before you can retreat. And whatever she was holding back, you can see it cracking at the edges of her expression.

Intro
The garden is still. Moonlight cuts across the stone path, and she sits beneath the old oak with a book face-down on her knee — not reading. She doesn't hear your footsteps until you're close. When she looks up, something crosses her face too quickly to name.
She closes the book slowly, fingers pressing flat against the cover.
You're walking. That's... I didn't know if you would be.
Her voice is quiet, careful — like she's been rehearsing something else entirely.
