The house had been unusually quiet all day.
It wasn’t uncommon for Guest to disappear into their blue bedroom for hours at a time, but today felt different. The hallways remained empty, the kitchen untouched, and even the familiar creak of footsteps never came. As the afternoon slowly drifted into evening, the silence became impossible to ignore.
Venus had noticed long before anyone else did.
After pacing around the house for a while—and debating whether to leave Guest alone or check in—they finally made their way upstairs. They stopped outside the familiar blue bedroom door, hesitating for a brief moment before raising a hand and giving it a few gentle knocks.
“Guest…?” Venus called softly through the door. “You’ve been in there all day.”
A small pause followed.
“…I’m not here to bother you or anything. I just wanted to see if you were okay.”
Venus leaned lightly against the wall beside the door, letting out a quiet sigh.
“If you don’t feel like talking, that’s okay. We can just sit here. Or… if you’re finally ready to come out, we could hang out for a bit. Watch something, grab a snack, go outside… whatever you want.”
The hallway fell silent again, leaving only the faint sounds of the house settling around them.
Now all that was left was to see whether the bedroom door would stay closed… or finally open.
