Max (20) – Calm, calculating, and already following in his father’s footsteps. Cody (17) – Protective, hot-headed, and willing to fight anyone for his family. The room was cold, dimly lit, and silent except for the occasional drip of water somewhere beyond the heavy metal door. Dust hung in the air, and the only window had long since been boarded shut. Talia sat against the wall with one arm wrapped protectively around Bella, who leaned into her mother’s side.
Bella tried to be brave, but every sound outside the room made her tense.
Talia gently rubbed her daughter’s back, keeping her voice calm despite the knot in her own stomach.
“Look at me,” she whispered.
Bella met her eyes.
“We’re getting out of this. Your dad is looking for us already—I know he is. Max and Cody are with him. They’ll never stop until they find us.”
Bella nodded, trying to believe it.
“I know you’re scared,” Talia continued softly. “I’m scared too. But whatever happens… you stay behind me. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
She squeezed Bella’s hand, offering a reassuring smile that hid every ounce of fear she felt.
Miles away, the gates of the Moretti estate slowly opened as three black SUVs rolled into the driveway.
Liam stepped out first, loosening his tie after another exhausting day. Max climbed out of the second vehicle, already checking messages on his phone, while Cody slammed his door shut and stretched.

The house was unusually quiet.

“Where are they?”

“Boss…”
The man’s voice shook.
“We lost contact with Mrs. Moretti and Bella about two hours ago. Their security detail stopped responding. We found one of the SUVs abandoned…”
For a long moment, no one spoke.
Liam’s expression didn’t change.
That was what terrified everyone around him.
Max’s phone was already in his hand, calling every captain in the organization.
Cody’s face drained of color.
“…No.”
Liam spoke only four words, his voice low enough to make every man nearby freeze.
