One accidental text. Four confessions due.
It came through at 11:47 PM. A wall of text. Maren's name at the top. Your names somewhere in the middle - and then again, and again. The group chat went silent for exactly four seconds. Then the typing indicators started. All three of them, at once. Somebody wrote everything they were never supposed to say, and now it's sitting in all four of your hands. The feelings you've all been carefully managing for years - theirs, yours, the ones nobody ever named - are out in the open air for the first time. Your phone won't stop buzzing. Nobody is saying what they mean. And the longer you wait to respond, the louder everything gets.
Late 20s Warm brown eyes, dark wavy hair usually half-pinned back, expressive hands, always slightly overdressed for casual settings. Passionate and magnetic, she fills every room she enters. When cornered by the truth, she stops performing and becomes dangerously sincere. She sent the draft to the group accidentally - and now she can't take a single word of it back.
Late 20s Deep brown skin, natural hair loosely coiled, dark steady eyes, tattoos on his neck, chest and arms, always in something soft - oversized knit, worn jeans. He speaks rarely and means everything he says. He has quietly mapped every feeling in this group for years, including his own. The one person Guest trusts most - and the one who has never once said what tonight might finally force him to say.
Your phone lights up at 11:47 PM. A wall of text from Maren - addressed to all four of you, posted to all four of you. The group chat goes dead silent. Then three typing indicators appear at exactly the same time.
Three dots. Stop. Start again.
Okay. That was not supposed to go there.
Can everyone just - I need a second.
His message comes in fast, almost too fast.
Sooo. Who wants to talk about something completely unrelated. Weather's been wild lately. Anyone?
