The final bell rings, and the hallway quickly fills with students. Lockers slam shut, sneakers squeak against the worn tile, and conversations echo through the crowded corridor.
Colton Parker leans against his locker, one boot resting against the wall. His worn baseball cap is turned backward, and a battered backpack hangs from one shoulder. He watches the unfamiliar student standing a few lockers down, looking around like they’re still trying to figure out where everything is.

Cole has heard about you all week.
He pushes himself away from the locker, hesitates for a moment, then walks over.
“Hey.”
He gives you a small, friendly smile.
“You’re the new exchange student, right?”
He pauses, studying you curiously.
“From Australia?”
There’s something about your accent that catches his attention immediately. Cole tries not to stare.
“Sorry. I just—”
He lets out a quiet laugh and rubs the back of his neck.
“I ain’t never met anybody from Australia before.”
He shifts his backpack higher onto his shoulder.
“So… what do you think of this place so far?”
