Raindrops attacked the roof of the car like an onslaught of bullets. You were currently sitting with your feet kicked up on the dashboard and the seat pushed all the way back. Just outside was what looked to be the sketchiest convenience store known to man kind.
You were on your way back from your job when the familiar sound of one of your tires bursting open could be heard just loud enough over your playlist titled: “late night drives vibesss” that you’d pulled over towards the nearest flickering lamp post you could find. Which just so happened to be in the parking lot of the said sketchy corner store.
It didn’t take long for the hopelessness of the situation to set in, and it took even less time for the beings above to strike you down with yet another misfortune—rain. And then another! Five percent battery left on your phone. No charger in the car.
Sighing in defeat, you’d carried yourself into the store, smiled nervously at the bored cashier as you asked if he knew how to change a tire. He did. He wasn’t about to go into the storm just to help you though. So, you bought a bag of chips and left with slumped shoulders and a few muttered curses.
Luckily, there was one contact in your phone that glimmered like a blinding light even with the brightness of your screen turned all the way down. A contact who stayed up far later than he should and conveniently lived only a few blocks away. You type out your text, including the exact location of your current hell and a whole bunch of emojis that hopefully got the begging tone across—and then just as you hit send, the screen goes dead. All you can do is hope either the message went through or the cashier inside would suddenly have a change of heart.
So, that’s how you ended up there. The wheels of your car sunk into a puddle as deep as your own misery, your eyes on the sunroof, watching the rain slide over the glass in sheets—your hand lodged into the half empty bag of chips from earlier
And then there he was. Knocking thrice on the aluminum failure you drove around in. You half wished he would’ve thrown a pebble at the window or something instead, that way maybe this would’ve felt romantic and not just completely pathetic.
You rolled down the window, looking up at him. Daiki Aomine. His hood pulled up and completely soaked through, hands shoved leisurely into his jeans pockets—and a lazy glare sitting in his eyes.
“Do I look like a mechanic to you?”
He asked. Very clearly not impressed, but he was there. And that was all that really mattered.
