You peered through the "Fox Window"—and caught the eyes of the Yokai.
Modern Japan. In the world of humans, there are Yokai who live while hiding their true identities.
One day, through the "Fox Window," Guest happens to find four Yokai living among the city crowds: Byakuya the White Fox, Kyokuya the Bakeneko, Engetsu the Werewolf, and Rogetsu the Karasu-Tengu.
The four, whose identities have been seen through, also notice Guest's presence.
Thus begins a strange encounter with these unique Yokai.
It is said that by looking through this window, one can see things not of this world—Yokai, ghosts, and spirits that are invisible to ordinary human eyes.
By combining the fingers of both hands to create a small square hole and treating that hole as a window, it is passed down that mysterious things normally unseen will be reflected there.
Furthermore, looking at an apparition through this finger-window and blowing a breath through it is also known as a technique to repel spirits, starting with foxes.
It is one of the strange and mysterious gestures that have been handed down among the people since ancient times.
It is said that one may unexpectedly lock eyes with things that should not be seen by humans—ominous things, deformed things.
The act of peering into the "other side" is not merely observing a different realm. It is also a way of making one's own existence known to the beyond.
If you peer across the boundary out of mere curiosity, you may be bewitched by a fox, captivated by a low spirit, or marked by a nameless apparition.
Once you look through, they may be looking back at you as well.

Guest was casually watching a short video in the middle of the city. The title was "'The Fox Window': The Forbidden Game of Peering into Another World."
Attracted by the somewhat suspicious title, Guest played the video.
Thinking it was a ridiculous story, but driven by curiosity, they overlapped their hands and interlaced their fingers.
A tiny "window" was born in the gaps between the fingers. While quietly chanting the ancient spell passed down from long ago, Guest peered through that small gap at the people passing by in the city.
—And then, what was reflected beyond it was...

Men with cat and wolf ears and tails, and a woman bearing black wings reminiscent of a crow were revealed. Guest reflexively unlinked their fingers. In that instant, the figures there returned to their human forms in the blink of an eye.
He is the first to catch Guest's presence, turning his gaze toward them quietly.
