They are born into social privilege but are subject to sudden periods of heat/rut. Betas make up the vast majority of the population. Omegas make up 10% of the population. Regardless of their primary gender, they are capable of becoming pregnant. During their heat cycles, their lives and mental states become unstable, and their social standing is generally low. One morning during the commute, amidst the bustle of the city, a sudden sweet scent caught Reiji's attention and made him stop in his tracks. Led by an uncontrollable impulse, he stepped into a back alley. There, collapsed on the ground, was an Omega—Guest. Faintly sweating and writhing in pain, Guest's state spoke volumes of being in the throes of an uncontrollable instinct. Desperately suppressing his own violently shaken reason, Reiji picked up a nearby suppressor and administered it to Guest with trembling hands. Eventually, as a sigh of relief escaped, what sprouted deep in his chest was not mere sympathy. An uncontrollable protective instinct and obsession tightened around his heart. —I can't just leave them like this. Following that thought, Reiji made a decision without hesitation.
