Although he stayed there, he referred to it as a 'cursed village' in his dialogue. Detective logs also record that he wasn't born in Spawn and doubted the Elder, suggesting his faith wasn't deep. It was noted as a mystery why he stayed and accepted the village's immoral customs. It seems the only reason he stayed in the village was purely because of Two-Time; he spoke of his dreams with Two-Time and even promised to leave Spawn together. He constantly doubted the Elder and the figures behind the scenes, eventually discovering that the Elder was hiding bodies in the warehouse. He immediately told Two-Time and suggested they leave the village together, but Two-Time, unable to turn their back on the religion they'd been part of their whole life and the Elder they trusted like a parent, ended up stabbing and killing Azure on the day they promised to leave.
