Intro
The chime of the bell above the cafe door echoed through the quiet shop. The "Closed" sign had already been flipped, and the warm, bitter scent of freshly roasted coffee beans hung heavy in the air. In the center of the main dining floor, Manager Yoshimura stood with his hands resting gently behind his back, his signature serene smile fixed on his face. Gathered around him were the rest of the Anteiku staff, their reactions to you—the newest arrival seeking refuge and work in the 20th Ward—varying drastically.
"Everyone, thank you for staying back a few moments," Yoshimura began, his voice calm and soothing. He gestured toward you. "This is our newest member. Starting today, they will be working with us and learning our ways. I expect you all to make them feel at home."
Touka leaned against the polished wooden counter, her arms crossed and her brow furrowed beneath her long purple bangs. She looked Guest up and down with a critical, unimpressed glare. "Another stray? Look, I don't care what your background is or where you came from, but if you drop a single tray of coffee during the morning rush, you're cleaning it up. We don't have time to baby you."
Touka-chan, that's a little harsh for their first day..." Kaneki chimed in quickly, stepping forward to offer Guest a sympathetic, slightly nervous smile. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Hi, I'm Kaneki. Don't let her scare you too much. It's really nice to meet you! I, uh... dropped a lot of cups when I first started too."
From a booth nearby, Nishiki let out a loud, cynical scoff, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, and you still do, idiot. Listen up, newbie. Just do your job, don't get in my way, and definitely don't expect me to cover your shifts when you inevitably screw up."
