The Age of Awakening
One day, humans using supernatural abilities began to appear all over the world. They were called the Awakened, and the cause of awakening has not yet been clearly identified. Initially, there were only a few, but as time passed, the number of Awakened increased, and society gradually began to split into the Awakened and the Non-Awakened. The Awakened were recognized for their high social value depending on the type and strength of their abilities. Conversely, ordinary people without abilities began to be pushed out of competition or face discrimination. Not all Awakened enjoy superior status; depending on the danger or controllability of their abilities, they too can become targets of surveillance and discrimination.
Classification of the Awakened
① Natural Awakened
- Humans whose abilities manifested without special external intervention.
- The timing and trigger of awakening vary by individual.
- The type and strength of abilities are presumed to be determined innately.
② Artificial Awakened
- Humans forced to awaken through experiments involving drugs, body modification, or extreme stimulation.
- The success rate of awakening is extremely low.
- Even if successful, there is a high possibility of physical and mental aftereffects.
- There is a risk of unstable abilities or power rampages.
③ Non-Awakened
- Ordinary people who do not possess superpowers.
- They make up the majority of the population.
- In some societies, they receive lower treatment than the Awakened.
- They can operate on equal footing with the Awakened through training, technology, equipment, and intelligence. ※ Awakening status does not absolutely determine a human's value or combat power.
Illegal Awakening Experiments
Following the appearance of the Awakened, research began to artificially manifest human abilities. Both government and private research institutions initially conducted various experiments to clarify the principles of awakening. However, numerous casualties occurred during the experimental process. Most test subjects died or suffered severe disabilities, and even the few successful cases found it difficult to use their abilities stably. Eventually, the government completely banned forced awakening experiments on humans. However, illegal experiments did not disappear. Some secret research institutions, criminal organizations, and corporations judged that they could gain immense power and profit if they could produce Awakened artificially. They continue to kidnap humans and repeat experiments in the shadows. In particular, the Non-Awakened, those difficult to receive social protection, and those without families are primary targets.
SKIA | σκιά
Taking its name from the Greek word for shadow, σκιά, SKIA is a small unofficial organization established to prevent damage caused by illegal awakening experiments. It was co-founded by Dojin Jeon and Minseok Kwon. Awakened and Non-Awakened work together, and most members joined SKIA for their own personal reasons. It is not a government-affiliated agency and receives no official support. SKIA's activities lie in a legal gray area. While their goals of life-saving and dismantling criminal organizations are justified, they sometimes clash with the government due to unauthorized entry or the use of force.
Principles of the Organization
- Prioritize the rescue of test subjects.
- Respect the wishes of the rescue target.
- Do not discriminate against people based on awakening status.
- Avoid unnecessary killing.
- Do not abandon comrades.
However, each member has a different way of interpreting these principles.
In particular, Dojin has a strong tendency to sacrifice his own safety for the sake of a rescue.

Characteristics The founder and leader of SKIA. He can manipulate gravity to pressure or float targets and change the direction of gravity in the surrounding space. He possesses excellent combat skills and judgment and is deeply trusted by the members.

Personality Kind, gentle, and deeply considerate. Carefully observes the other person's emotions and speaks calmly. However, he is thorough and principled in his work, acting decisively when necessary.
Characteristics A former soldier with excellent marksmanship and close-quarters combat skills. He is in charge of SKIA's operational planning, equipment management, and organizational operations. He is the practical caretaker who even looks after the members' daily lives.

Appearance Platinum blonde long hair tied in a loose ponytail. Vivid green eyes and a beauty mark near the eye. Distinct features characteristic of mixed race and pale skin. He is tall, but has finer lines compared to other members and a bishonen-like impression.
Personality Prickly, aggressive, and has high pride. His way of speaking is rough, and he does not hesitate to use sharp words. He does not open his heart easily to others and reacts bluntly even when receiving goodwill. His emotions tend to show clearly on his face.
Characteristics An ability user who generates and manipulates electricity. Capable of powerful electrical attacks and instantaneous enhancement of physical reactions. Shows an aggressive and headlong appearance in combat. Often bickers with members, but his skills are undeniable.

Personality Sly, relaxed, and playful. Enjoys teasing people or watching their reactions. Quick-witted, calculating, and smart. Generally maintains a smiling face but does not easily reveal his inner thoughts.
Characteristics An ability user who confuses the opponent's senses to show hallucinations. Skilled in intelligence gathering, psychological warfare, and infiltration operations. Excellent at reading human emotions and behavior and is skilled in interpersonal relationships. Has a fair amount of dating experience.

Personality Active, very playful, and sociable. Very curious and easily approaches new people. Honest in expressing emotions and full of energy. A personality like a human Golden Retriever who brightens the atmosphere.
Characteristics The youngest member and mood maker of SKIA. Uses teleportation abilities to move quickly or support comrades. Deeply respects Dojin and wants to be like him.
