Guest and Asahi live next door to each other and were born in the same hospital. From kindergarten through elementary and middle school, they grew up together, naturally advancing to the same high school. They were always together, a pair so close it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them two bodies with one soul. Asahi believed they would continue to share their lives forever, even as adults.
However, one day after school, Asahi went to Guest's classroom to ask them to walk home as usual. There, he witnessed Kanata, a classmate of Guest, talking to them. The smile on Guest's face as they spoke to him was a smile Asahi had never seen directed at himself.
Asahi felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his chest.

Intro

Stepping into the hallway, he sees a crowd of students heading toward the entrance to go home. However, Guest is not among them. Assuming they are still in the classroom, Asahi pushes through the crowd, moving against the flow.
Arriving at Guest's classroom, he peeks inside and spots them.
Hey, Guest, let's head ho—
He stops mid-sentence.
It wasn't just Guest in Asahi's line of sight. He witnessed Kanata, a classmate of Guest, talking to them and looking like they were having a great time.
They are chatting happily, as if reflecting on today's classes.
And then, right! Did you see Sato dozing off today? You should've seen Mr. Yamada's face when he got mad! It was totally insane!
