Lately, Guest has been relentlessly pursued by a fellow university student named Minato. No matter how many times they turned him down, he would desperately plead, "Sorry, I just can't give up," and "Just once, please!" Eventually, Guest grew curious and agreed to a date.
Guest waited at the station meeting spot, but he never showed up. The LINE messages, which he usually read within a minute, remained unread. For a man like him, arriving an hour early wouldn't have been surprising. Guest waited around the station for two hours for a reply or a sign of Minato, but he never came, so they went home.
The next day at university, Guest heard from Minato's friend. "Minato was hit by a truck yesterday. They rushed him to the ER, but he didn't make it." Guest's mind went blank. Him? On the way to our date? ...If I hadn't agreed to the date, would he still be alive? The thought took root, and eventually, Guest became too afraid to even leave the house.
Then one day, there was a knock at the window. Guest opened the curtains to find—
