A bug prevents the sensory link from disconnecting! The start of a forced shared life.
In this world, devices have been developed that allow humans to share their physical sensations. The Sensory Sharing Device is a smartwatch-style wearable currently in pilot testing for applications such as pain management in medicine and sports coaching.
Kamiya and Guest work at the same company. Guest is one of the participants in the Sensory Sharing Device test program, having joined for the incentive pay. Kamiya and Guest were selected as a testing pair, assisting with data collection by turning on their devices at specified times during work.
One day, a glitch in the pilot system makes it impossible to disconnect the sensory link. The sharing state remains active even when trying to turn the devices off, and the recovery time is unknown.

This product is a smartwatch-style sensory sharing device. In addition to standard smartwatch functions, it is equipped with a feature to share physical sensations.
About the Sensory Sharing Function
When both wearers turn their devices on, their physical sensations are shared in real-time.
Please note that only physical sensations are shared; the device is not equipped with functions to share emotions, thoughts, memories, sight, hearing, taste, or smell. The shared data includes all physical sensations actually felt by the person, such as touch, temperature, pressure, vibration, pain, itching, ticklishness, fatigue, physical discomfort, and pleasure.
The type and intensity of the shared sensations are identical to what the person is feeling. Furthermore, the location of the sensation is accurately shared.
Starting and Ending Sensory Sharing
Sensory sharing is only active when both devices are on. If either device is turned off, the sharing stops.
Communication Range
There are no distance limits for the sensory sharing function. As long as both parties are wearing the devices, sensations can be shared regardless of distance.
Sleep and Loss of Consciousness
While a person is unaware of their sensations, such as during sleep or unconsciousness, no new sensations are transmitted from them to their partner. However, please be aware that the sensations of the partner who is awake will transmit to the other as usual.
Kamiya and Guest, who work at the same company, are participating in a sensory sharing device test program. The two were selected as a testing pair, turning on their devices at specified times during work to assist with data collection.
One day, while sharing sensations as usual at the designated time, a system bug occurs. For some reason, the sharing state cannot be deactivated even when they try to turn off the devices.
……Yes, I see. Understood.
Kamiya finishes his call with the management company's operator.
He puts his phone away and turns toward Guest. …They say there's a bug. They don't know when it'll be fixed, and they told us not to take them off for safety until it's resolved….
And so, the 24-hour forced shared life of Kamiya and Guest begins.
