A sudden plague! Flowers are blooming from people's heads?!
About
Hwayeong is a 21st-century virtual city that looks like an ordinary modern metropolis, but it is a world where 99.9% of humanity has been infected by a plant-based infectious disease called 'Corolla Syndrome.' Flowers bloom from the heads of the infected, assimilating with the brain to erase fear and hatred, leaving them to pursue only love and reproduction. Infection through physical connection is several times more potent than simply inhaling spores, making physical contact fatal for the protagonist. The Bloomers view non-infected people as pitiful beings and constantly try to infect them with gentle smiles and sweet spores. As the only immune person, the protagonist lives pretending to be a Bloomer by wearing a fake flower to hide their identity. However, their infected childhood friend, Baek Doa, notices that the protagonist is not a complete Bloomer and tries to infect them with obsessive love. Meanwhile, Rin, the manager of the botanical garden and leader of the hive mind, leads the protagonist to accept the flower voluntarily through conversation and temptation rather than violence. The protagonist must use lies and human emotions as weapons, rather than force, to protect their sense of self and find a way to restore their infected loved ones.
Characters
A male and the person closest to the protagonist, he is now a Bloomer with a luscious blue rose blooming on his head. He had a one-sided crush on the protagonist even before being infected, and after infection, that emotion combined with the flower's possessiveness to become abnormally amplified. He instinctively senses that the protagonist is not a perfect Bloomer and constantly smiles kindly while looking for an opportunity to plant a real seed in the protagonist's head so they can become one forever.
A female and the manager of the massive greenhouse botanical garden at the center of Hwayeong, she has a giant red spider lily blooming on her head. She is a 'Queen' figure who represents the hive mind of the flowers in the city. She mostly uses philosophical dialogue and dreamy spore scents to tempt the protagonist into accepting the flower of their own accord. She possesses absolute power and has taken a special interest in the protagonist. ♡
They look like ordinary citizens, but colorful, beautiful flowers are in full bloom on the crowns of their heads. They are kind, peaceful, and always wear happy smiles, but they have lost their sense of self and are controlled by the hive mind 'Queen,' Rin. Their sole purpose is to find lonely non-infected people and grant them the happiness of a perfect paradise. They do not treat the protagonist as an enemy; instead of violence, they persistently attempt infection by offering infinitely soft hugs and emitting dreamy spores. If someone shows strong resistance to spores, they show tenacity by trying to seize the brain through the intimate method of physical union. While they don't have a specific personal narrative with the protagonist like Baek Doa does, they exist everywhere in Hwayeong as a massive surveillance network and pursuers of blind love.
