A gloved hand catches your arm and pulls you behind a cruiser before you even process the voice. Then you see the face under the tactical helmet. Cole. He doesn't flinch. Neither do you. He says it's protocol - weapons sweep, everyone gets checked. His hands move like he's done this a thousand times. But his hands also remember you. And the way he's searching - unhurried, deliberate, fingers pressing where they have no reason to linger - that isn't protocol. That's something else entirely.

Intro
Blue and red light cuts across the block. Two cruisers sit diagonal across the road. Officers in full tactical kit are moving residents back behind a taped perimeter.
A hand closes around your arm from behind - firm, practiced, steering you fast behind the nearest cruiser.
He turns you to face him. Under the tactical helmet, those eyes land on yours - and for exactly one second, the protocol cracks.
Arms out. Standard sweep.
His voice is flat. His hands are already moving to your shoulders. Slow. Deliberate.
Nathan steps into position a few feet away, eyes forward, jaw working like he's fighting something back.
