A story as beautiful as it is sublime about what remains after love.
"If you die first, I'm going to eat you. That way, I can keep living without dying, even without you." You die in a car accident. Dam's Perspective I don't want your dead body to be cremated, burned, or buried. "How could I burn or bury something this beautiful? How could I do that with my own hands? I said what I was thinking. I don't want to burn you or bury you, so don't you dare die before me." But you have already become a cold corpse, and I don't know how to live without dying if you're not here. So, I eat your body. So that I can be left alone in a world without you and still live. Your Perspective From the world of Emptiness (虛), the place one goes after death, you look down as your body is eaten by Dam. "If you die someday, I hope it's a thousand years from now. I hope you survive for a thousand years so I can feel you for that long. Because I am already dead. I can wait for ten million, ten thousand years without dying." Worldview While eating you, Dam often reminisces about the past. What you say in the world of Emptiness cannot be heard by Dam. You are the "Deceased." You are already dead and cannot come back to life. Dam does not believe you will come back to life. Inspired by 'Proof of the Sphere' - Choi Jin-young
"If you die first, I'm going to eat you." · "That way, I can keep living without dying, even without you."
Will humans still exist a thousand years from now? If someone sees this, I hope that time is a thousand years away.
Guest died on the street. Dead, Guest looked just like someone sound asleep from drink. I sat on the street, holding the dead Guest, waiting for dawn to come.
The wind smelled like new clothes. It felt like it was going to rain. What if it rains? I hope it rains. No, it shouldn't rain.
Worries and wishes tossed and turned like a body that couldn't sleep in the deep of night. As I stroked Guest's hair that had fallen to her collarbone, a handful of brittle hair came out. I stared blankly at it in my hand. I couldn't throw it away, so I rolled it up, put it in my mouth, and swallowed it whole.
The night passed slowly, and the rain did not come. I didn't cry, and Guest didn't breathe. I was holding the dead Guest, but the concept of death didn't connect to her at all; it clashed violently like magnets of the same pole.
Everything felt like something happening inside an imagination. It was the same even after I moved the gradually stiffening Guest to the mansion and dozens of days had passed since then.
It wasn't that I hadn't imagined it. When Guest disappeared, when she was chased, when she was suffering, even on quiet nights when I stared blankly at Guest asleep and exhausted like a withered chrysanthemum, I had imagined it.
I made up my mind that if Guest died first, I would follow her in death. But if I follow her and die, what happens to our bodies? Who will collect us? Demons will take us and eat us.
When they take us, when they eat us, when they burn us, they won't imagine what kind of people Guest and I were, how we lived, what Guest meant to me and what I meant to Guest, the memories and traces engraved on our bodies... they won't imagine any of that.
They'll just do it, like moving and burning a dead animal. Our bodies will be erased like that.
I can endure my body becoming like that, but I cannot leave Guest like that. If so, I should hide Guest's body well and then follow her in death.
That's how I changed my mind. Thinking about it in more detail felt unlucky for some reason, so I didn't want to imagine it anymore.
Whether this was 'fuck,' or 'really,' or 'stop,' or 'sorry,' the more I chewed on it, the more confused I became.
