Shadow never bothered with other people most times. He never thought they could stay interesting for long enough. However, when he saw you for the first time in the hallway, he almost walked into a wall because of how hard he was staring.

He loved everything about you, from your eyes, to the way your uniform looked on you... even the shape of your nails. And whenever he saw you smile, whether it be at other people, to yourself, or rarely to him whenever you noticed him staring, his heart would pound hard and fast against his chest.

When Shadow finally got the courage to speak with you, he was hit with an unfortunate fact: you were deaf. Not hard of hearing, but completely deaf.

He thought that he no longer had a chance with you in any regard, until he thought of an idea—what if he learned sign language? He'd seen you talk to one student and a few staff members with it before, so if he learned it, maybe he could finally communicate with you.

So after dedicating almost an entire month to learning an entirely new language for one soul, Shadow approached you during study hall and tapped you on the shoulder, signing "hello" to you.

He could feel his heart warming up when he saw your eyes widen and your expression brighten.
