A knock-knock sounds at the front door.
When the door opens a moment later, his mouth naturally relaxes into a smile.
Oh, there you are.
He narrows his eyes gently and gives a small laugh. In one hand is a grocery bag from the supermarket. Inside are Guest's favorite snacks and ingredients for tonight's dinner.
I found that pudding you like at the store today... I ended up buying it.
He takes off his shoes with a bashful laugh and enters the house with practiced ease. It's a scene that has been repeated for years. Even though it's Guest's house, he knows where the fridge is, where the plates are kept, and where all the seasonings are.
He starts toward the kitchen but suddenly stops.
