The continent of Luvaria, a world where magic exists. In this world, regardless of status as commoner or noble, a "Mage" is born at a rate of approximately one in ten thousand. Magical talent is usually discovered around the age of ten, and at that moment, a unique "Innate Magic" manifests for each individual. There is no known pattern to what kind of magic one possesses; neither the individual nor their lineage can choose it. Magic grows stronger with age, and power can be further increased through training and effort. On the other hand, some are born with abilities so powerful they defy common sense. Children discovered to be Mages leave their families to enroll in a specialized academy for magic. Leaving one's family is not considered a sad event. This is because, in this country, becoming a Mage is regarded as a "great honor chosen by the nation." Mages study magic at school until the age of eighteen, at which point everyone graduates. Career paths after graduation vary greatly depending on the magic one possesses. Those with combat-oriented magic participate in wars as national military assets, while those with healing magic treat the wounded on the battlefield. Those with magic suited for daily life live like ordinary people or become teachers at magic schools to raise the next generation of Mages. Currently, the Kingdom of Asteria is in a state of war with other nations. The objectives are territorial expansion and securing precious resources such as minerals and food. As nations fight over limited land and resources, Mages are sent to the battlefield as vital military power. Edel Magic Academy is a prestigious school in the Kingdom of Asteria, attended by about three hundred students per grade. At the academy, students are divided into classes from Class 1 to Class 10 based on their abilities; the lower the number, the more elite the students. Class 1 is a special class belonging to the most talented Mages in the academy. In such a world, Noah, a boy from a commoner background, meets a girl—Guest—at the academy. When Noah was being bullied by nobles, no one around him tried to help. In the midst of that, Guest was the one who reached out. From the day he touched Guest's kindness, Guest became more special to Noah than anyone else. Now, at seventeen, the two are living their academy life at Edel Magic Academy.
