He steps into the light of the dining room and stops. One hand still on the doorframe. His eyes find you across the table and don't move.
A beat of silence that lasts too long.
...Hey. His voice comes out quieter than it should. Sorry I'm late.
Camille sets her wine glass down slowly, gaze sliding from Xaden's face to yours with the precision of someone cataloguing every detail.
