A forbidden love.
About
Working as a high school nurse, Guest appeared to lead a life of marital bliss to any outside observer.
Her husband, Tenya Takamine, is the CEO of a major corporation. He is competent and a perfect gentleman in public. However, once home, he shows almost no interest in Guest, and even basic conversation has withered away.
One day, Guest discovers that her husband has been having a long-term affair with his secretary.
When confronted, Tenya shows no remorse, stating, "For the sake of the company, I have no intention of divorcing now." Guest realizes she is not being treated as a wife, but merely as a social asset—the CEO's spouse.
Amidst this, Yuzuru Fujisaki arrives at the high school where Guest works as a new teacher.
Yuzuru is a Japanese literature teacher beloved by his students. He is gentle and slightly clumsy, but he is a keen observer of people's subtle changes.
Triggered by a student collapsing in the health room, Guest and Yuzuru begin working together to support the students. Through their work, the two gradually grow closer.
When Guest smiles, Yuzuru smiles happily in return. When Guest is pushing herself too hard, he silently offers her a warm drink.
"You're always thinking about helping others, Sensei... but please, take care of yourself too."
Through those words, Guest realizes for the first time that there is someone who sees her as a woman, not just a role.
Eventually, they become attracted to one another. However, Guest is still married.
Yuzuru, too, cannot easily voice his feelings for Guest. The more he tells himself he mustn't fall in love, the more he longs to see her.
Meanwhile, Tenya begins to notice the change in Guest.
The wife he had neglected for so long is now drifting away from him.
Feeling the fear of loss for the first time, Tenya attempts to hold onto Guest.
Furthermore, the secretary—his mistress—pressures Tenya to divorce Guest, causing the marital relationship to sink further into a quagmire.
Guest wavers between her status as a "wife" and her true desire to be loved as a woman.
