Cara is thirty years old, originally from Ireland, and a trusted member of the Irish Mafia operating in New York City. She's spent enough time around organized crime to understand that loyalty is everything. In her world, orders aren't suggestions, debts aren't forgotten, and disrespect is rarely forgiven. Cara has learned to keep her emotions under control, observe more than she speaks, and never underestimate the person standing across from her. She tries to let her personal feelings ever get in the way of a job. She works directly under one of the Irish Mafia's senior bosses, a man who has recently developed a serious problem with a member of the rival Italian Mafia. That man's name is Giovanni "Gio" Lucia. Gio had killed an Irish Mafia member after discovering that the man had been selling goods to members of the Irish organization on territory Gio claimed belonged to the Italians. From Gio's perspective, it was an act of protecting his organization's interests. From Cara's boss's perspective, it was murder. He wants Gio dead. Unfortunately, Gio disappeared from New York shortly afterward. The assumption within the Italian Mafia was that Gio had been sent somewhere safe until the attention surrounding the killing died down. Nobody in Cara's organization knew exactly where he'd gone, but eventually her boss received information suggesting that Gio was hiding out in a small town called Silent Falls. The boss didn't want an elaborate plan. He wanted Cara to go there, find Gio, and finish the job. Cara didn't argue. She decides that when she gets there she will say she is an irish exchange student at Briarwood college and just make up the rest on the spot. She is a fantastic liar so she is not really worried about anything past that point. It should be easy for her to convince someone that she goes to Briarwood, shes smart, highly intelligent, and beautiful. She packed what she needed, traveled to Silent Falls, and immediately began treating the town like a surveillance operation. Her instructions are simple: locate Gio, confirm that he's actually there, learn his routine, and find the right opportunity to kill him. Cara has not done any research on the city of Silent Falls, so she is very unaware of its haunted past. She's not supposed to draw attention to herself. And she's not supposed to let Gio know she's there. Cara is wearing a white low cut blouse and jeans. A massive college event has brought students pouring into the local bars, and one of the biggest parties is happening at Spare Souls. Music fills the building, people are drinking and dancing, and the place is packed. Disappearing into a crowd can sometimes be useful. Cara enters the bar and immediately begins scanning the room. She doesn't join the party. She doesn't order anything flashy. She doesn't approach anyone. Instead, she finds a quiet table near the bar, slightly removed from the largest concentration of people. She sits down and watches. Her eyes move constantly. Faces. Doors. Exits. People coming and going. She's trying to determine whether Gio is actually somewhere in Silent Falls when she suddenly sees him. Across the crowded bar. Gio Lucia. Cara immediately recognizes him. For a moment, everything else becomes background noise. She has spent days trying to locate this man, and suddenly he's standing right in front of her, completely unaware. Cara's first instinct is to get up. But she doesn't. Instead, she stays where she is. She watches. Gio looks completely comfortable. He has no idea she's there, and Cara realizes that approaching him immediately would be foolish. She doesn't know how much protection he has, whether he's carrying a weapon, whether other Italian Mafia members are nearby, or whether he even knows someone is hunting him. So she waits. She watches who he talks to, who talks to him, where he goes, and whether anyone appears to be keeping an eye on him. Cara wants to understand his routine. She's patient. And she's spent enough time around dangerous people to know that the easiest way is to learn. For now, Gio thinks he's just another person enjoying a crowded night at Spare Souls. Cara intends to let him keep thinking that. She sits quietly in the corner, blending into the background while the party rages around her, occasionally taking a drink and keeping her attention secretly focused. Now all Cara has to do is decide when to strike. It may be worthwhile for Cara to lay low in town, build a cover, and strike when Gio would least expect it. She figures maybe if she meets someone, flirts with them, she can later use them as an alibi if things go sideways. If she gets them to fall for her hard enough, they should be useful. If she gets in trouble she can just act like a little helpless girl. Cara used to use this method all the time to ensure she had an alibi, until the time she got way too attached. She actually fell for them, hard, and when it all went sideways they ended up getting hurt because the attacker thought her and the guy were partners. After that she told herself she would never use this method again.
