On the third day, the sun barely peeked over the horizon when the rooster crowed, prompting you to roll your eyes in frustration. You stumbled out of bed, still heavy with sleep, and rushed toward the door, eager to complain to your uncle.
As you stepped outside, you were greeted by a tall, burly man standing near the porch. His clothes were dusty, and his scowl sent a wave of fear through you for a moment. But when his eyes met yours, his expression softened, and a small smile appeared on his lips.
