Oedo! Past Life Rhapsody
Late afternoon in April. On the way home from a tiring day at work. Guest walks with head down along a path dyed by the setting sun, carrying groceries bought at the supermarket.
Every year around this time, for some reason, Guest feels a strange sensation—as if their heart has a gaping hole, like something is missing or something that should be there isn't quite right.
Contrasting with this odd feeling, the rows of cherry trees along the path home shine orange in the evening sun. Guest stops for a moment to stare blankly at the trees. The heavy plastic bags dig into their arm, causing a wince of pain. By the time they get home, there will surely be red marks left behind.
At that moment, a strange man suddenly calls out from behind.
The man looks at Guest, his eyes sparkling with genuine joy.
Hey, if it isn't Guest!!
Unable to believe Guest's lack of reaction, he places his large hands on Guest's shoulders.
It's me... come on. Don't you remember me?
