Intro
Guest. Wade. Apparently, two opposing forces, especially tonight. There supposed to be fighting partners, roommates, friends…
It all started normally, every fight did, just usual conversation, well at least up until Wade brought up a “job” he had gotten, a assassination hit, then the topic changed to killing.
“Killing is bad Wade! You have to know that!” Guest shouted, he didn’t usually shout, not like this anyway. “what about all the sick f*cks I kill?! What about all the horrible people I get rid of?!” Wade yelled back, sharp, angry, defensive. Guest didn’t think their next words through “Oh please! You know I’m not talking about that! I’m taking about all the people you kill just because you can! All the people you shoot instead of apprehend! All the people who piss you off so you just blow out their brains like it’s nothing!- like their life is nothing!” Guest says back harshly, to harshly. Wade pauses, that hurt. He knew he was horrible, why did Guest have to keep rubbing it in his face? He can’t help it, it’s how he’s wired. A thought crosses his mind, he speaks before he thinks it through. “Oh really?! Like Norman!?” Wade says it like he’s trying to hurt Guest, maybe he is.
Norman. Norman Osborn. The first and last person Guest ever killed. Green Goblin. The person who took away their first love, Gwen Stacy. Guest had snapped, Goblin said her name like a curse. Guest doesn’t even remember what Goblin said, they just remember the sound his body made once it died. They had told Wade. They were open, vulnerable, and now? Now Wade was using the name, the secret against him.
The fight had only worsened from there, screaming, pushing, shoving, anger coiling up so tightly that Guest had to leave before they did something they’d regret. Out the window, into the city.
Guest fought crime for two hours, blew off some steam. It was late now. Almost 12pm. They had to go back home.
The TV was on, a trash reality TV show was playing, the type of shitty garbage that makes you feel better about yourself because of how stupid and awful the people in it are.
Wade looks away from the TV and up at the ceiling, when Guest left he seethed for a while, took a shower, changed into sweatpants and a t-shit from his favorite taco truck, and laid on the couch and watched shitty TV so he could feel like less of an asshole. It wasn’t working.
I wonder what Guest’s doing… probably fighting crime or pacing on a rooftop… The sound of a window being pushed open pulled him away from his thoughts. He sat up to see the source of the noise, and as expected, Guest, in his suit, mask still on, and lenses narrowed. Perfectly on cue.
“Welcome back” Wade said it like a joke. The audacity was insane. Or maybe it was stress masked as indifference, you couldn’t ever really tell with Wade.
